Ingredients:

  • 500 grams buffalo meat, cut into chunks

  • 1 cup rice

  • 1 cup lentils

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 2 tomatoes, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste

  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder

  • 1 teaspoon garam masala

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Buff Meat:

    • Heat oil in a large pan and sauté onions until golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.

    • Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.

    • Add buffalo meat chunks and cook until browned. Pour in enough water to cover the meat, bring to a boil, then simmer until the meat is tender and the sauce is thickened. Stir in garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

  2. Cook the Lentils:

    • Rinse lentils and cook in a pot with 2 cups of water until soft. Season with salt and a pinch of turmeric powder. You can also add a tempering of cumin seeds and chili for extra flavor.

  3. Cook the Rice:

    • Rinse rice until the water runs clear. Cook in a rice cooker or pot with 2 cups of water until fluffy and done.

  4. Serve:

    • Plate the rice, lentil soup, and buffalo meat. Enjoy with a side of achar (Nepali pickle) and some fresh salad.
